4 Simple Steps to Set Up Your Classes for Black Leaders Day

4 Simple Steps to Set Up Your Classes for Black Leaders Day

. 3 min read

It’s a celebration! Honoring Black History Month may look and feel a lot different this year amid the COVID pandemic but we believe there are still plenty of ways to celebrate. And we welcome you to celebrate with us.

On February 25th, we’re inviting people from all over the country to celebrate Black achievement and leadership by supporting Black instructors on the Moxie platform. We're inviting students to work up a sweat with their favorite coaches in the comfort of their homes and support charities and organizations that promote Black health, education, rights, and community development.

On this day we aim to empower our Black instructors to share their stories and make fitness inclusive and affordable for everyone. With your help, we’ll show that Moxie isn't just an online fitness studio – we are a community.

If you haven’t already registered for this event, click here to register. You will also need to schedule your classes on Moxie by Sunday to have your class featured for the event.

In this blog, we’ll share 4 simple steps to help you set up up your classes and participate in Black Leaders Day.

Step 1: Set up your class schedule for Black Leaders Day.

We are asking that all participating instructors set up their class schedules by Sunday, February 21. Classes will be hosted throughout the day so pick a time that works best for you. You can choose to teach as many classes as you'd like on Black Leaders Day, paid or free (flex pay).

To make it easy for attendees to find our Black instructors, we ask that you add the hashtag #BlackLeaders to your class title.

i.e. #BlackLeaders Power Core HIIT or #BlackLeaders Yoga Flow.

While you’re at it, we encourage you to schedule classes in your studio to follow Black Leaders Day so that attendees who discover you through this program can join your clientele.

Step 2: Choose Your Organization:

Black Leaders Day is about making an impact that uplifts the Black community as a whole. That said, Moxie will donate $5 per attendee to the cause of choice for any of our Black coaches who register to teach on Black Leaders Day. There is no limit to how many instructors can join and there's no max to the amount that Moxie will donate on your behalf.

Choose an organization that is meaningful to you – locally or globally.

Need help finding organizations to support? Here are a few:

  • Black Lives Matter
  • Black Alliance for Just Immigration
  • Trans Women of Color Collective
  • Black Girls Code
  • Common Ground Foundation
  • The Trayvon Martin Foundation
  • We Are Here
  • The Innocence Project
  • My Brother's Keeper

Step 3: Spread the word

Each day this week, we’ll share a series of blog posts on strategies you can use to promote your Black Leaders Day classes, grow your social media, and turn followers into students. Check the blog each day for a deep dive into Going LIVE on Instagram, choosing captions that convert, how to use hashtags to reach new audiences, and much more.

To get you started today, here are some ways you can let the world know about your #BlackLeaders class.

  • Shout it out on social media. Create a short video intro and share it on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and beyond.
  • Use the new moxie messaging feature to tell all your past and present students about your new class and the cause you're supporting.
  • Email your fitfam, friends, and past clients.
  • Promote it after class to your regular attendees.

Step 4: Help Us Amplify Black Voice

Whether or not you’re a Black instructor you can still support this initiative to amplifying black and brown voices in the fitness and wellness community.⁣ Join a class, share the event on social media, and send this blog post to all your fitness buddies –  yoga teachers, HIIT instructors, strength training coaches, and others.
